1978

An idea is born

In 1978, Wolfgang Grenke had an idea. Modern telephone systems, copiers and computers were finding their way into more and more offices. So he decided to make the associated investments easier by offering companies attractive leases. Having established his one-man business in Baden-Baden, he began a success story that shows no sign of slowing down. Even in the first year, Wolfgang Grenke and two employees oversaw 21 resellers and 198 leases. He saw massive potential in leasing low-cost office equipment (small-ticket IT leasing).

IPO and even stronger performance

In April 2000, GRENKE went public. The company remains faithful to its promise to work with small and mid-sized businesses on an equal footing and as a reliable partner. In 2005, the company set up its Invoice Finance business area.

2023

Back to normality

GRENKE's first Capital Market Update and ambitious growth targets: For 2024, the Board of Directors expects leasing new business of EUR 3.4 billion and net profit of EUR 140 million. This would double GRENKE's leasing new business and profit compared to financial year 2021. New business and consolidated profit will be increased four quarters in a row in 2022. GRENKE is thus laying the foundation for increasing earnings in the coming years and has a robust starting position on its way back to the old growth strength that has characterised GRENKE for four decades. CFO Dr Sebastian Hirsch will take over from Michael Bücker as Chairman of the Board of Directors on 1 December 2022 - initially on an interim basis - then permanently from 16 February 2023.
