GRENKE had the fantastic support of Smarttar Training in our first year as an Apprenticeship provider. We were delighted with the feedback received from Smarttar and trainer Andrew “For an apprenticeship to be successful, you need managers to take interest and be involved in their development – which the GRENKE managers have done. The Induction and Onboarding process along with the regular contact during Lockdown has seen all five Apprentices with an exemplary attendance record and all coursework completed to the high standard.’

Successful start, a positive future

Thought our Apprenticeship programme has been offered at our German Headquarters for some years, Beverley McGlone, HR Manager has been instrumental in having the UK manage its own. Following the successful first year, we are delighted to have secured 3 further specialized Apprenticeship beginning July 2021.

Beverley McGlone comments, "I have really enjoyed working with everyone involved in our GRENKE Apprenticeship Programme. Our apprentices really made a difference to the teams in the UK. From finding their feet to the confident group we now see, it has been such a great experience for us all.”

Congratulations to the whole team

Well done to Laura D'Souza, Joe Endacott, Matthew Colleer, Izzy Minor and Merlin Rowlands who all completed the GRENKE Apprentice Programme

Izzy Minor, “Being a GRENKE apprentice has opened my eyes up to the world of business and given me invaluable experience; I have learnt many fundamental skills that will undoubtedly assist me in my future career and for this I am very grateful.”

Joe Endacott, “I have had the chance to work alongside GRENKE’s customers and resellers whilst studying towards achieving a distinction in my apprenticeship. I have thoroughly appreciated my time so far, and I hope to expand my knowledge within GRENKE and beyond.”

Matt Colleer, “Despite the pandemic I am still surprised by how much this apprenticeship has taught me in just 16 months through both the academic side of things as well as the workplace. This has allowed me to go above expectations and prove how much I am capable of.”

Laura D’Souza, “I have enjoyed the experience of learning the Business Level 3 administration course and all the modules we completed to achieve the qualification. Our mentor Andrew, had been very supportive along the way, as well as Beverley, Jordane and Carolyn. Some parts of the course have been tough but with the support I received I managed to complete everything.”

A special mention for our Apprentice Coordinator Jordan Boobyer, who ensured the smooth transition and continuing guidance to all of our apprentices. Jordane says,“The Apprenticeship programme has been very successful despite a tough year for our Apprentices who have had to adapt to not only working from home but learning remotely with their Tutor. It has been a pleasure to be involved in the UK’s first Apprenticeship programme and I feel very honored to be their mentor.”

Thanks to all the GRENKE Line Managers who supported our Apprentices, James Williamson, Melanie Harrison, Carolyn Hill, Kirsten Block and Sam Norton, plus all our GRENKE staff for making them all feel welcome and continuing to support them, even from afar.

We look forward to sharing more about their journeys here at GRENKE in the future.
